Before I describe my UNIQUE LEGAL PHILOSOPHY, you must learn a bit about my personal and professional background.
MY BACKGROUND
I grew-up in Malden, Massachusetts. I learned from an early age that one can accomplish almost anything with hard work, honesty, and a bit of “street smarts.” I saw firsthand how crime, divorce, and drug and alcohol abuse wreaks havoc on families.
After graduating cum laude from UMASS-Amherst in 1987 with a B.S. in Accounting, I worked for 3 years as a Certified Public Accountant at Price Waterhouse, an international accounting and consulting firm. I then attended Northeastern University School of Law and graduated in 1993. While at NUSL, I worked for a United States District Court judge, the United States Attorney’s Office, Governor William Weld’s legal staff, and a well-respected criminal defense law firm in Miami.
After graduating from law school, I worked for a large-multinational law firm in Boston litigating a variety of civil matters such as products liability actions. I then joined the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office (“SCDAO”) and quickly rose through the ranks to become the Chief of the Domestic Violence Unit, where I prosecuted serious, violent domestic violence cases and supervised a staff of 16 prosecutors, investigators, victim-witness advocates and administrative staff. While at SCDAO, I responded to murder scenes as a member of the Homicide Response Team, approved search warrants as a member of the Search Warrant Team, and worked closely with law enforcement personnel in investigating and prosecuting serious, violent crimes.
In 2001, I left SCDAO and joined Newman & Newman, P.C., a well respected, multi-faceted law firm that began operating in Boston in 1977. While at Newman & Newman for more than ten years, I worked closely with small and medium sized businesses, real estate developers, physicians and professional service providers, trades people, and individuals in a variety of legal matters including hundreds of real estate transactions, business transactions, and litigation.
I established Attorney Jeffrey T. Karp, P.C., in December 2011, so that I could better serve my clients and enjoy a better quality of life with my family.
I live in the greater Boston area with my wife, a professional artist, and 7 year-old son. I enjoy hiking, cycling, watching the Celtics and Patriots, traveling with my family, and playing sports with my son.
MY PHILOSOPHY
As a practicing attorney for more than 18 years, I have honed and developed a philosophy and certain business practices to which I am committed.
I believe in being aggressive, proactive and zealous in my advocacy for my clients. But, I also strongly believe that personalized attention to my clients’ needs and goals is as important as the manner and ferocity with which I attack my clients’ legal issues.
Simply put, I understand that I work in a service industry in which many attorneys are not responsive to their clients’ individual needs. I also understand that you, your friend, or loved one may be seeking my services under extremely stressful circumstances. Thus, I place paramount importance on communication and responsiveness.
AS MY CLIENT, YOU WILL BE ASSURED THAT I FOLLOW CERTAIN PRINCIPLES:
1. I will respond to all telephone and email messages within 36 hours, most often within the same business day.
2. I will discuss issues in your case in a manner that you understand and will not use unnecessary legal jargon that serves no purpose other than to try to impress you.
3. Subject to court rules, you will receive a paper or electronic copy of every document that is filed with the court, received from the opposing party/government, or sent to the opposing party/government. In another words, you will have all the information about your case that I have.
4. You will be provided with prompt information regarding the status of your legal matter.
5. You will be intimately and personally involved in all strategy decisions made in your case.
6. I will work in a cost-effective manner and ensure that you are fully informed of the “cost and benefits” of pursuing various strategies so that you can make a well-informed decision in allocating your resources.
7. MOST IMPORTANTLY, NO ATTORNEY WILL OUT WORK ME. NO ATTORNEY WILL BE BETTER PREPARED THAN ME. AND, WHEN WE TAKE YOUR CASE TO TRIAL, NO ONE IN THE COURTROOM WILL KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THE CASE BETTER THAN ME.
I believe that my philosophy is unique in the legal industry. Deserve Victory. Contact me today for a free initial telephone consultation.
